Deion Branch Trade Talk

The New England Patriots on Friday granted holdout wide receiver Deion Branch permission to seek out potential trade suitors and to negotiate a contract with another club.

In a simple, two-sentence release delivered on Friday afternoon to the media and to Branch and agent Jason Chayut, the Patriots essentially confirmed that contract negotiations with the four-year veteran are at an impasse and that the two sides might have to seek an alternative resolution to their differences

im not so sure how a trade can help the Pats

i dont see them getting an equal reciever in return

Re: Deion Branch Trade Talk

They'd probably get a 2nd or 3rd round draft pick depending on the team and whatnot. The Patriots felt they could have their way with Branch but he wants to get paid. All the power to the former Super Bowl MVP.

I could see teams like Philly or KC interested.

The thing is, he only has till Sept. 1 to get a potential suitor and a new contract worked out with any team. Not a lot of time, really. Yeah, I could see Philly as a possible market, but then, they're also looking to acquire a RB, maybe Staley. Personally, I don't see a deal getting done.

Re: Deion Branch Trade Talk

I think Philadelphia has a better chance with Staley. Duce Staley is listed as 2nd in the Pittsburgh depth chart because of the over-lying, Willie Parker. Parker had a great season last year and hopefully he can continue to do well this year. As you saw with the break-out of Jerome Bettis, Staley could easily sit the bench for the season. But honestly, I think they should do fine with Brian Westbrook if he stays healthy ().

Deion Branch should stay in New England. He fits in there and I'm not sure how well he would do elsewhere. Plus, he is Tom Brady's go-to guy.

If I'm New England, I don't know why they haven't already caved in and paid Deion Branch. Everyone knows Tom Brady loves to throw to him and why would they risk alienating their franchise?
