Deion Branch Prepars Holdout to Week 10

Deion Branch is believed to prepared to remain a holdout throughout the season according to NFL.com. He wants a long-term contract or promise from the Pats they won't franchise-tag him.

Will the Patriots cave him or stand their ground?

Re: Deion Branch Prepared Until Week 10

i have such conflicting feelings about this

with all the players the Pats lost this off season i want Branch there

yet i hate to see players hold teams hostage.

if a player has a terrible year in the middle of a contract can the team renegotiate to pay them less ?

Of course. Happens all the time. Steve McNair, for example, was being asked to take a pay cut when he was traded. John Elway, near the end of his career, voluntarily played for league minimum so that the team would have the money to sign his offensive line and they'd have a shot to win the Super Bowl.
