Moss fined for comments about officiating

WR Randy Moss was fined $20,000 for comments made about the officiating in last Sunday's loss to the Colts.
"A lot of guys are really down because we let a game like this slip," Moss said, according to the Boston Herald. "But when things happen, you have to watch what you say. Guys don't want to get fined. But there was some real iffy calls out there.
"Some of the things you wish wouldn't happen. But good calls and bad calls are part of the game. You've got to live with that one, the good and the bad."

ESPN - New England Patriots WR Randy Moss fined $20K for criticizing officials

"Iffy calls"? "Good calls and bad calls"? That's what he got fined for???
Your comments on this. Was Randy whining again?

OK I admit I'm a bit biased but a $20K fine for that is way out of line. I understand a line must be drawn but he didn't make a specific reference to any particular call or any particular official. I also understand that $20K means little to these guys but how about the freedom of speech ??? I truly could understand if he said Mr. So and So really screwed up the call on that play but it just didn't happen that way ?????

The NFL rescinded this fine today.
Maybe they figured out for themselves that it was really stupid.

Ya 20K is a lot for talking about iffy calls. However I didn't see what he said so I'm not positive.

Do you give the NFL credit for that? I wouldn't give NFL brass credit for tying their own shoelaces. I mean cable customers can't even get the NFL network and the NFL is the #1 sport in the USA!! This is looking like the mid-90s when baseball pretty much collectively urinated on their fans and it took a whole lot of steroids and broken records to bring them back. No sport is more un-fanfriendly right now than the NFL.

How so? Games are broadcasted on CBS and FOX a lot of the time. So people who only have channels 1-12 andcan't afford a cable or satelite provider can still watch games. With baseball a lot of teams have their own channel and some can't watch them.

I have cable and I don't have the NFL Network, neither do a lot of cable subscribers. The flagship station of the NFL and until they make that available to all cable satellite subscribers they are mistreating the fans and like baseball it might just bite them on the you know what one day. And I don't care about who's right, cable vs. the NFL the point is the NFL should make their product available so it's their responsibility. I'm an NFL fan not a cable tv fan and I don't look for cable to do much for me but I would expect something from my favorite sport. Don't want to hear debate about which side would get the most money or whatever the reasons are because I don't care...it's always the fan who gets their pocket picked anyway.

All I am saying, is that games are on CBS and FOX, stations that even the least expensive tv service sometimes offer. What sports do that?

Cougar, methinks you'd better check out the schedule for this week:

Thur 11/13 NYJ @ NE 8:15PM NFL Network
Sun 11/16 DAL @ WAS 8:15PM NBC
Mon 11/17 CLE @ BUF 8:30PM ESPN

(only available on cable or satellite)

and it's true for the entire year. (check it out yourself at NFL Schedule: Regular Season)
