Feeling it was a prime opportunity to boost their special teams units, the New England Patriots contacted Buffalo Bills receiver Sam Aiken shortly after free agency began last Friday. Aiken was flattered by the early interest according to the Boston Globe.

"Coach [Bill] Belichick reached out at around 11 that morning, and that was a big deal to him," said Alvin Keels, Aiken's agent. "That call made him feel like the Patriots really wanted him."
