| New England tackles aging defense this year Last year, the offense was retooled. This year, a makeover of the defense looms. The Patriots' release of veteran linebacker Rosevelt Colvin on Tuesday was perhaps the first of several moves that could significantly alter an aging defense. Asante Samuels is free to leave Friday. Linebackers Tedy Bruschi and Junior Seau, safety Eugene Wilson and cornerback Randall Gay are also slated to become unrestricted free agents. Although it's possible the Patriots could re-sign their projected free agents, age enters into the equation for Bruschi, 34, and Seau, 39.
