Plus, it's after the season. Do NFL players get drug tested during the off-season?

Way to draw the line man...it's all the same ...besides, ain't it consider a "gateway" drug to other drugs etc...And what difference does it make when he gets caught?

Maybe he and Randy Moss can party together I guess...

Re: Pats RB Faulk found with pot

He was charged with a misdemeanor. He had only enough on him to be considered for personal use. He will go to court and pay a fine.
Will the Pats punish him. I doubt it unless he gets busted for same or commits a more serious crime. I would think the same for the NFL.
McKinney of the Vikings was arrested for getting into a physical disturbance at a Miami club and the Vikings arent sure what they are going to do with him if anything. He has been in trouble before and the Vikings are supposed to be trying for a squeaky clean reputation.
A lot of teams have players get into trouble during the offseason.
And illegal is illegal. I dont know how many times we have said that.

Re: Pats RB Faulk found with pot

I think the only punishment will come from the NFL's substance abuse program, which is probably a four week suspension, not from the team.

Really? Well, is he a first-time offender? And will it even matter with Goodell running the ship?

Re: Pats RB Faulk found with pot

I just found out that he passed the drug test and will not have to enter the NFL substance abuse program.

His previous criminal history:
In 1996 he got into an altercation at a home where a police officer suffered a broken leg.
In 1998 he was arrested for possession of marijuana that was found in the glove compartment of his car. Charges were later dropped when a passenger stepped forward and took responsibility.

Not sure what you mean by register. We're talking about it here so you know there are other forums doing the same. Does it compare with Michael Vick ? NO !!! The basic point of all of this is that it is an illegal substance. The amount he had may lessen the fine in the courts. What Goodell does no one can tell for sure. In my mind I now have a different image of him, just as I do with any sports figures that break the law. Until it becomes legal these guys are taking a chance and when caught it is time to pay for the crime. If the courts deem that it is nothing more than a financial penalty then so be it. I just get P.O.'d when these guys buy their way out of it.

Not much is going to happen to Faulk. It is a misdemeanor and I am going to assume he will pay whatever penalty there is for it.

Probably not, it seems like a guy gets busted for smoking weed once a week. It's absolutely nothing compared to Michael Vick or Barry Bonds.

OK ... I guess this is where I show my age and intolerance of breaking the law. A crime is a crime. I guess I view it as more than just a financial penalty but at the same time I understand that the jails are already over crowded. Maybe a fine and a ton of community service ??? I just don't think a minimal cash fine means much to someone making millions. I know that the role model story isn't one that some athletes agree with but the fact remains that many of these guys are in the publics eyes and "I" think they need to conduct themselves in a better manner.

I'll jump down off the soap box now. Thank you !!!

I don't know if it regeisters on the radar as a major story, but it is still illegal. If ESPN can report it, I guess we can discuss it!

These players are just brain dead to allow themselves to get caught up in this crap.

Now why do that? I happen to agree. You know...an NFL team can still step up and say, "We are not going to tolerate that foolishness here"...where is the Patriot response in all this?

I have no idea what the penalty for this is in the state of Louisiana, but when I said pay the penalty it could include community service. Many times it does.
Many of these guys are role models, and realize the debt they owe to their fans and the community. The ones that dont live up to the standards of role models do a terrible disservice to our kids.
Whether you agree with using or not, illegal is still illegal. ( And yes, I use caffeine, but as far as I know, its not illegal.)
