Patriots: Team or Illusion

By FREDERICK R. SATKIN

The ominous words of Tedy Bruschi in a post-game interview after the New England Patriots' AFC championship game have been played over and over in my mind since he uttered them: "Boston deserves everything it gets."
We will see if the house of Kraft is a team or a flashing illusion. The omens are not good, despite the rhetoric. Belichick walked off the field with one second on the clock. Brady and Moss act like little boys who, having lost, want to take the ball and go home; both have announced they will not go to the Pro Bowl next week. Even if they are hurt (an excuse they have not offered), they should show up. Neither of them is putting the fans before their own disappointment; neither is representing New England; neither has elevated the game of football above his own interest. They might as well quit now and turn to a career in politics.

I think he meant because so many of the Boston fans and media were disappointed with the loss at the Super Bowl. This team had an 18-1 season. Any other team would take it if they had it offered to them.
Instead of being proud of their team's accomplishments, they are groaning and moaning about the lost to the Giants.

Many fans like to see their team's players just one more time, and they are depriving their fans of that. (I'm just going with the article on this, ok?)
It could be understood that Brady and Moss are pouting a bit because they didnt win the Super Bowl.

Re: Patriots: Team or Illusion

I've said before that all star games, pro bowls, all star races mean little to nothing for me. I cannot remember that last time I watched one of these events in its entirety.

I do agree that they should go, but it doesn't make a bit of difference to me. I'll more than likely moving snow or snowshoeing tomorrow.

Well, they lost a playoff game and they still went. Furthermore, you could see them yakking it up on NFL Access at the Pro Bowl.
Rich asked them which Super Hero team they would like to be and TO said Batman and Robin. He then quickly added, "I'm Batman" Tony replied kind of drolly, "Guess that makes me Robin."
I think they assigned the role of Mighty Mouse to Rich.

Just wanted to make sure no one thought he said this after the super bowl.

Whoa, actually I did. Thanks for pointing it out. That kind of puts things in a different light, doesnt it. Tedy meant they deserved the AFC win, but the author of the article said that those words haunted him. So it wasnt Tedy putting the fans down.

I had to read it twice myself. I thought whoa, that guy just committed professional suicide. Obviously the comment was not about the super bowl loss, which had not happened yet, but about multiple successes for Patriots, Red Sox, etc.

That makes sense. I would definitly be proud if they were my team. I thought TO was going to get mvp at the pro bowl, didnt you?

Yeah, I was hoping, but Peterson put on a pretty good show.
