Belichick Explains Why He Left the Field With One Second on the Clock

Bill Belichick had his end-of-season conference call this afternoon and he finally got a chance to explain why he left the field with one second on the clock during Sunday's Super Bowl:
"I wasn't really sure of the time," Belichick said in a conference call Tuesday. "Everybody started on to the field and then I got over there and I wanted to congratulate Tom. I've been in that situation before after the game. I wanted to get over there and congratulate him and congratulate him on the championship. There really wasn't much left at that point."
I know a lot of people weren't happy with Belichick's decision to "Randy Moss" it to the locker room, but we should at least give the guy credit for finding Tom Coughlin, shaking his hand and even throwing in the man hug normally reserved for Eric Mangini.

That is close to what I thought happened. I think this should be the end of this. This guy has been ripped enough over it.

We can find other things! (I'm kidding)!

I have absolutely no problem with it. There was lots of confusion out there and unless he has a play where he can take the ball from the kneeling QB, what's the big deal?

I like the term...he "Randy Moss-ed" out of there... I remember Sammy Sosa doing the same in Chicago one year...was never forgiven by the team.

Bill always has an explanation for everything. Why he pushed the photographer...GREAT COLUMN by Wallace Matthews of Newsday: here's just a taste. But click on the link to get the pefect column on the perfect jerk.

So instead of the perfect season, we got the perfect sore loser, the perfect sourpuss, the perfect rat. The coach who couldn't even stick around one more second to pay proper tribute to a worthy opponent and lead his own equally worthy players out of the stadium in a respectful manner.
