Could another QB besides Brady go 18-0 with this Patriot team?

Is it Brady, the team or a combo?

The 1972 Dolphins went part of their 17-0 season with a backup QB. Could the 2008 Patriots have done the same?

Ihave not been impress with their backup either... I think at Brady gone down this year, we would be looking at an 11-5 team at best.

What if .... what if ??? We'll never know for sure but I think it is safe to say that an 18-0 record would have been difficult at best for any other combination.

I think on that team, Manning could have done it...possibly a Montana, a Steve Young...or maybe even a Roger Staubach.

I think no one mentions Young in the all time great QB debates...but he was a prolific passer with multiple passing titles...highly moblile...kept mistake to a minimum and very accurate.

Johnny Unitas, without a doubt, could've gone 18-0 with them.

Re: Could another QB besides Brady go 18-0 with this Patriot team?

Why are we mostly looking at quarterbacks from the past? Dont you think any of them from today could? With those receivers and that O-line. Heck, even Grossman would have looked good. Not perfect, mind you, but good.
Romo, Favre, throw an interception and Defense will get the ball back.
Brady is good, very cool, very accurate, but he can be pressured and made a bit nervous if the opponents can get pass his O-line.

Grossman goes 11-5 at best...Romo 14-2 (he dates Simpson late in the season and loses focus) Favre 14-2...Manning possibly runs the table.

Please dont tell me you mean your guy Eli here?

Of course, even he would have looked pretty good there. But not run the table.

Yeah, Peyton would too. Favre would roll the dice too many times and lose at least one. What about Carson Palmer, could he do it?

What about McNabb? How would he do on this team. he is fairly accurate and doesn't get ruffled when he is pressured. He may get hurt during the season though
