Brady Appreciation

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Shame on us. We pay more attention to Tony Romo's dalliances with Jessica Simpson than we do on the unfailing greatness of Tom Brady. A Saturday night in New England reminded us of a truth that somehow is underplayed in this quirky land of ours: Brady is the hottest thing going in team sports, mainly because he's also the coolest thing going in team sports.
The Patriots weren't perfect. Their defense was far from perfect against the Jacksonville Jaguars, who moved the ball easily enough to feed perceptions of vulnerability. But if not for two catchable balls that weren't caught, Brady would have been as perfect as his team's 17-0 record. In the most airtight passing performance you'll ever see, he completed 26 of 28 attempts for 262 yards and three touchdowns, maintaining his legendary poise when Planet Perfection briefly was coming undone.

Re: Brady Appreciation

Remember as well that Garrard threw a pair of perfect TD passes that were dropped. The game would have taken on a different tone had Jax made those plays, but that's football. He really impressed me last night.

Re: Brady Appreciation

I have been watching football for a long time, and that game was one of the best QB performances I have ever seen. It is games like this that will ensure his HOF spot.

He played so well Gerrard's day goes unnoticed. He played pretty well also.

Robots, I tell you, these guys are robots. Randy Moss not catching balls and blocking and still being quiet? Its the Stepford Wives I tell you.
Another Liberty statue Play?
Talk about Tony Romo having ice in his veins. So does Brady.

Its downright scary is what it is.

Garrard is darn good and so are the Jags. I almost think he is too good for the Jags though. Or at least his receivers. I couldnt see down the field but when he was running it almost looked like he was trying to direct traffic and his receivers didnt respond very well.

Cool Re: Brady Appreciation

The numbers speak for themselves and Brady is great but I'm not goanna go too crazy. Brady just took what Jacksonville gave him. They let him complete pass after pass underneath and just hoped for some mistakes.

This is why Belicek is a great coach. He will take advantage of anything you give him.

Re: Brady Appreciation

He completed 93% of his passes, and the two he missed were both drops. We may never see a QB play a better game than that.

This is probably the whole point of this thread. He had one of the best QB performances in football, and it wasn't him. Jacksonville let him complete pass after pass.

Phill Simms against the Broncos was as good and maybe better:

Quote:
On January 25, 1987, the Giants met the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XXI. In the biggest game of his life, Simms had one of the finest performances in Super Bowl history.[19] He completed 22 of 25 passes (with 2 of his 3 incompletions being drops by receivers) for 268 yards, setting Super Bowl records for consecutive completions (10),[20] accuracy (88%),[20] and passer rating (150.9).[21] In addition, he threw 3 touchdown passes and his passer rating set an NFL postseason record.

But since the first thing the article was mention Simpson, and not football, when it comes to Romo, I guess we should really go Tabloid, and discuss that child born to Brady's Mistress.

But no, he didn't go there, but if he had started off with ripping Romo's performance yesterday, instead of bringing up Simpson, I'd have no issues with this post. Brady get's a pass on bad personal actions because he is playing well.

But we don't wanna to there, do we?

So lets clarify exactly what is acceptable and isn't

Brady has a child which came from a consensual act. Bad boy since he is the only person to have ever done that. Tony is with Jessica. Are you going to try and convince me there have been zero consensual acts between them ? In my book neither of them gets a pass. Is one worse than the other ?? I'll agree that the results were not, but the previous actions between all four of them are the same. Now tell us again about morals. I might be old and retired but ............. ehhh you don't wanna hear my beliefs.

Again, didn't Brady have a relationship going, and cheat. And that cheating produced a child??? That is all I'm saying.

And the only reason it matters, and not really to me, is that folks are ripping Romo for having a relationship. What is wrong with that? I don't care if Brady fathers 10 kids out of wedlock. But I just think the author of that article could have told us how great Brady was without going into anything about Romo at all, much less his relationship with Simpson.

It is really about the author, not Brady. But I feel his comments were out of line. You can just compare the stats and accomplishments of the two QB's. He didn't have to mention Simpson. Romo's own shortcomings, and Brady's positives, could have made the point.

Now Phil this may surprise you but I agree with some of what you are saying. I agree because I hate the media. They do not report news anymore, they make news. Lets face it a story about how good Brady is compared to any other QB is old news but if I can twist it somehow, then I can sell papers. I'm sure nothing they reported is false but I agree that the topic goes way beyond what it should but then again ... would you read yet another article spouting off about how good Brady is ?? More than likely NO !!! Now lets add a little trash to the story (enter Jessica), BINGO ... now we got news.

That is exactly what made me angry about it. But like you said, throw some dirt in there, and it sells papers.

Glad we are on the same page with that. There is no arguing how great Brady is, he just didn't need to throw someone under the bus to do it!

That is what this place is for!
