More Fuel For Pats

A couple of readers have forwarded to us a link from the Jaguars' official web site containing something that might end up being used by the Patriots for extra motivation come Saturday night.
In the final power rankings of the 2007 season, Jaguars.com editor Vic Ketchman puts an asterisk next to the Patriots at No. 1.
At the bottom of the page, Ketchman explains that the Pats "[c]heated in one game."

Re: More Fuel For Pats

Who would have thought it would come to this? What has professional sports come to with cheating? NBA, MLB, and Hockey have been caught cheating and now the NFL is joining the rest of the professional sports leagues as a sport that cheats.
As a former NFL player, I would always hear the saying, "If you're not cheating, you're not trying." Pretty sad isn’t it? Well, I think the Patriots took that statement to heart and that is why they got caught. Unfortunately, cheating is much more common in the NFL than fans realize.
When I played in the NFL, there were many teams that I played against that by "magic" seemed to know what our plays were. There were teams that I played against where I would ask myself, "How on earth do they know what plays we are running?"
You should know that cheating runs rampant in the NFL and it is not just the Patriots that are cheating. Yes, they got caught because they made their cheating too obvious. But make no mistake about it, it is a fact that all NFL teams cheat to some extent.

I don't see how this adds any extra fuel or motivation. On their web-site, the Jaguars webmaster simply noted a fact.

It's not opinion.

Re: More Fuel For Pats

I am sure that New England would much rather have faced Pittsburgh, but I heard Belichick on a talk show last night that they have been preparing mostly for the Jaguars in the last few days, as they were least familiar with them. At this point, nobody on the Patriots needs any extra incentive to win than the fact that they realize if they lose, the undefeated season means very little.

That's exactly what I thought. Would it make them angry if you said the sky is blue?

Re: More Fuel For Pats

This whole Pats cheating thing just has to die a natural death. Enough is enough. Sure, I had fun harassing the Pats fans on here, but if anyone doesnt think that their coach or team hasnt bent the rules a bit sometime, they are kidding themselves. Pats just kind of bent them all the way down. Teams always try to find out opponents signals. Using technology just opens a whole new can of worms.
Biggest thing that bothers me is that they were caught and warned a couple of times before. How long did they think they could get away with it? Arrogance? Surely not stupidity. Just didnt care?????

Re: More Fuel For Pats

I really don't want to give the Pats fans a jab. I am honestly irritated beyond belief that they got caught cheating, and they got a slap on the wrist. I don't think it should be dropped. I think the fans should speak their minds, here, and on sports radio, and if Roger Godell was smart, he would pay attention.
