Does 16-0 Mean Anything

if the Pats are a perfect 16-0 for the regular season .... but falter in the playoffs ....... does the 16-0 mean anything

after all, they will be only the 2nd team to have a perfect regular season right ....... that has to be worth something

I think so...I think that is harder to do then win a Super Bowl...it has to count for something...but will end up fodder for years to come, I am affraid.

Re: Does 16-0 Mean Anything

Let me answer your question with another question.

Do you think the Patriots players would be happy with 16-0 and no ring? Well, there's your answer.

Brady would, he would find comfort in a leggy blonde and look at the three rings he already has...

It will be an accomplishment no doubt, however, it will be overshadowed by the fact they choked in the playoffs, not to mention the whole video cam thing..wink wink..

Re: Does 16-0 Mean Anything

I think it would still mean something, but I almost hope they do win it all. I'm tired of those old Dolphins getting together and drinking wine when teams finally lose.

It just smacks of poor sportsmanship to get together like that.

Go ahead folks, fire me up for that. But it's just how I feel.

Re: Does 16-0 Mean Anything

Few recall that the Mariners a few seasons back won 116 games in 2001, since the Yankees knocked them out of the playoffs. 16-0 without a ring will be a truly awesome letdown for fans and players alike.

Cool Re: Does 16-0 Mean Anything

If you go 16-0 and lose in the playoffs, the 16-0 becomes close to meanlingless.

WHY?...by that logic, LT's regular season Td record, Dickerson's rushing record, or even Favre's Td record are rendered meaningless...and apparently they are not...

Nah Phils ,its funny. Besides, at their age think of the monumental hangover they must get.

Of course 16-0 means something. They went the entire season without losing. The spygate thing may linger, and I know some of you arent going to like this, but that actually means nothing. Teams have been pulling fast ones on each other forever. Only if there is deliberate physical injury to someone would it be out of line completely. Belichek knew the rules, got caught, paid the penalty. End of story. At least it should be.
On Espn after this broke, Steve Young and Bill Parcells were trading off on each other. Something about how the 49'ers memorized calls, and during the game the signals to qb's got blocked, and something about some gates opened during a opponents field goal kicks at a certain end of the field, supposedly for trucks to deliver, etc, (Meadowlands) This was years ago. Neither of them denied it and both of them were smirking. You get the general idea.
So maybe Brady got help, maybe he didnt. But he did guide his team to a 16-0 season (Maybe)
I always thought guys put too much emphasis on that ring. Look at Dan Marino Oh wait, he didnt win a Super Bowl but he set all passing records not broken until this day.
Manning, lot of doubters until he got the ring Whoopee doo He's a record breaker too.
Tony Romo? Oh wait, he'll have his in February, 2008

It is a shame but that is why Marino will always be on a separate level as QBs like Favre, Elway, Manning, and Brady. They are QBs that led their teams to titles...Marino never did. He will be known as a great passer, but not a great QB if titles are what is most important.

Those are individual records. The 16-0 and a playoff ouster would be a team effort.
