Despite all the Patriots haters out their (
like this idiot, for example) praying to their god of gruesome, career-ending injuries that
Tom Brady suffers a horrific fate against the Colts ... well, keep praying, jerks.
Because that's just not something Tommy Terrific spends a lot of time thinking about. When asked if he was worried about an angry opponent gunning for his knees, the league's
second-best quarterback
offered this:
"I don't think that's the case, or going to be the case. I don't think that's what players think about," Brady said when asked about possible retribution. "All the opponents we've played are very ... just as we play. We play hard, we play with respect for them. I don't think anyone ever takes any cheap shots. Not in football."
That's right, because if there's one thing the Patriots stand for, it's respect. Whether it's
respect for the game, or
respect for individual opponents, it's still about, um, respect. Or something. Still, despite former-coach-turned-teevee personality
Bill Cowher voicing his concerns, Brady
isn't fazed:
"I think especially in the NFL, it's all about fair play. You play as hard as you can between the lines ... When the whistle blows, and when it stops, the play stops. Anything that happens between that, that's part of playing football. That's what you prepare for. I don't think I've seen that (payback) or been a part of that."
