Re: What Are The Patriots Supposed To Do

Which one of you Pats' fans felt that game was in jeopardy? The issue here is putting Brady back in once he had been pulled. We all know that Belichick is trying to make a point to the rest of the league after the cheating scandal. He will continue to do this for the rest of the year when ever he can, which will be often. Imagine if Brady got hit late and his knee injured after going back into that contest. How would that have sat with any of you?

Ehhhhh ... What if, what if.

Our answers will be as hypothetical as your question. It may be a valid question but until it actually happens ... there is no right or wrong answer.

Basically, it would be the Patriots and Belicheck's tough luck.

"If" it were to actually happen.

Cool Re: What Are The Patriots Supposed To Do

Agreed Lefty. In the pros, there is no such thing as running up the score.

Re: What Are The Patriots Supposed To Do

Once again, people are crying about the Pats running up the score, this week against the Redskins.

Well, not everyone...

"I don't think you could say enough good things about (the Patriots)... I have no problem with anything that they did." - Joe Gibbs

"What are they supposed to be doing, kneeling down in the third quarter?" - ex-Redskins QB Sonny Jurgensen

"This is not the local YMCA league where feelings can matter. This is the league for big boys... If teams don't like getting beaten so bad, they probably should do something productive about it, like play better." - Jason Cole, Yahoo! Sports

Add them to the list of the likes of Mike Ditka, Mike Golic and the countless others pointing out just how ridiculous this discussion even is.

exactly...you are there to score and win. If you want to save some wear and tare on the starters that is up to you.

Yep. I said it elsewhere, Goth... this was the 4th worst loss in Redskins history. Can you even imagine anyone playing in the 1940 title game whining and crying about the Bears running up the score? How that hurt their "feelings" and was "classless"? Certainly not. Players back then knew it was their job to man up and stop the other team. You don't get freebies in the NFL, not when you're a professional athlete paid to do a job.

Yep, and those guys got paid jack to do it...at a few million a year, they would need to drag my dead body off the field of play.

Athletes these days are such spoiled children. I'd love to see the Skins cut the guy who was whining about Belichick being classless. Send a message to the team - we don't need excuses and crybabies, we need football players who are willing to go out and pay the price so that they don't have the chance to run up 50+ points on us!!!

Re: What Are The Patriots Supposed To Do

couldn't have happened to a better team and better bunch of fans ... hope you enjoyed your quest to break individual records, cause your season was meaningless.

"Oh it's 42 -17, in the 4th quarter ... I know let's pass it instead of running it and killing the clock off. Maybe I can get another TD for that record I want."

Sincerely,
Tom Brady

Ellison my man...I get it, you only seem to know one note to play...and that's cool that you are heavy into being anti-Patriot and all, I ain't fond of them either...but in the Patriot forum its not all that cool to keep it up...I suggest you create your own posts in the Giants forum or the Football forum in general...

And I am really sorry if Brady and the Pats wronged you in another life...

It was more meaningful than the seasons for 28 other NFL teams, I'll tell you that. No, they didn't win the Super Bowl and I'm sure they're disappointed. But no team ever had a better offensive season statistically, they had an unbeaten regular season and won the AFC Championship. I'm sure a lot of Bills, Jets, Dolphins, Browns, Raiders fans, etc., would've loved a season as meaningless as this.

And man, they way you dog other teams fans for being rude, classless and obnoxious... see, I'm not a Patriots fan, but that kind of tactic bothers me. Rip the team all you want, fine. Good natured ribbing to other fans, fine - I do that one all the team myself. But these out and out attacks on New England fans themselves has gotta stop. Like I said yesterday, I know two New England fans. Neither one of them would've ripped Giants fans with this kind of furor had they won, I'll tell you that.

Re: What Are The Patriots Supposed To Do

When the one loss Vikings lost to the Falcons on a field goal a few years back, as a Vikings fan I felt the season's great numbers had been instantly washed away. I still feel absolutely the same way now looking back at that, as will Pats' fans years from now.
