| Samuel Reporting To Patriots Camp Cornerback Asante Samuel will report to Gillette Stadium this morning, ending his de facto holdout, a source close to the player confirmed last night. When Samuel arrives, which is expected to be prior to the team's 8 a.m. meeting, he will sign the one-year, $7.79-million franchise tender and prepare for his fifth NFL season. The 26-year-old left his Florida home last night to fly to Boston. He has missed 31 days of training camp, though he has not amassed any fines because he was not under contract. -- Providence Journal FOX Sports on MSN - Rumors - Ben Maller's sports rumors and notes

| Re: Samuel Reporting To Patriots Camp SAMUEL TRYING TO GET PATS TO AGREE NOT TO FRANCHISE HIM IN 2008 Adam Schefter of NFL Network reports that Patriots cornerback Asante Samuel did not sign his franchise tender on Monday, because the Samuel camp is trying to get the team to agree not to use the franchise tag on him again, apparently if he meets a specific playing-time threshold. Schefter says that, absent a deal, Samuel will sign the tender on Tuesday as currently drafted. ProFootballTalk.com -- The Best Pro Football Scoop on the Internet |
