According to the Associated Press,"Former New England Patriots' receiver Darryl Stingley, who was paralyzed after a hard hit during an NFL exhibition game nearly 30 years ago, has died. He was 55... An autopsy was scheduled. The cause of death was not immediately available."

Stingley is best known as the guy Jack Tatum paralyzed, but he was executive director of player personnel for New England for many years and ran an inner-city youth foundation in Chicago from 1993 until his passing as well.

Good for Stingley. He didn't feel sorry for himself and made something of his life. I feel really bad that he has passed away.
