Corey Dillon retire?

ESPN and the Boston Globe are both reporting that Patriots RB Corey Dillon is going to ask the team to let him out of his contract so he can retire. Bit of a surprise, but I guess he's not a spring chicken anymore. So does this change up the Pats draft strategy a bit?

Re: Corey Dillon retire?

ESPN says his agent has been talking to other teams and if he gets out of his Patriots contract, he'll look to sign with someone else.

If true, that's bush league. Otherwise, he's had a nice career. Too much of which was wasted in losing Cincy.

Re: Corey Dillon retire?

11K yards rushing a great career makes...but the guy has a few seasons of +200 carries left...I jsut don't think he likes the direction his role with the Patriots is taking.

Well, with Maroney, he IS eminently expendable. How many teams could he still start on, you think?

thats exactly it

no one needs to be released to retire.......the Pats should never release him, he has to be worth atleast a 2nd or 3rd round pick

i like him but this is a low move

give him permission to seek a trade or something like they did with Branch, they have Maroney, Faulk and Pass they dont need Dillon

Re: Corey Dillon retire?

AP is reporting that Dillon was officially cut today. Now to see if he retires, or looks to sign elsewhere.
