I think the patriot showed a classic case of choking on primetime.

Re: patriot

No, they lost an important game. It happens. Just because a team loses doesn't mean they choked or some excuse is needed, it could just mean that the Colts were the better team that day and that's that.

Re: patriot

how exactly is this a fact? i mean what your suggesting is that any team that looses in a big game is a chocker? the Pats played a good game and were unlucky to loose because the Colts mounted a good last minute drive that resulted in a TD, its happened for the Pats and against the Pats and has happened to many teams over the course of the season so no they didnt choke when it came to the big time, they played to the end but when it came down to it Peyton Manning just did what he always does and there just wasnt enough time to get another score for the Pats

Thank you Simon. I mean does it have to be some kind of conspiracy everytime a team loses?

FIRST OF ALL THEY CHOKED.
THE COACH STEPPED TOTALY AWAY FROM THE GAME PLAN.
AND SHOWED THE WORLD HOW MUCH HE NEEDED HIS TWO SIDE KICKS.

Can you give some of your "fred facts" concerning this alledged choking? I mean like like Simon said the Pats put up 34 points. The only thing I could think of to support your claim is one drop by Caldwell that would have given them a first down otherwise the Pats played a great game but the Colts played a better game. I mean that Samuel INT return for a TD or the great field positon they got by their special teams all day are not typical of a team that chokes. This reminds me of the Buffalo Bills fans whinning about the Music City Miracle saying that it was a forward pass by Wycheck. The game is over and you lost...move on.

Fred my man, it looks as though all the regulars are challenging it. I think you need some more definitive examples as to why you think they choked.

My observation is that their defense was at the very least lackluster in their performance. Then again it was against a very good offense.

Re: patriot

"OK VETS" first things first let me tell everyone involved with this discussion 'thank you for allowing me to join your chat "
Allow me to explain my position on this "FRED FACTOR".
Okay hold on to your seat belts the reason why this a fact.
It's because "BILL' really believed he really was the mastermind behind those previous superbowls.
Feel me on this last time i checked my "tapes of all three superbowls"
I noticed that "CORDINATERS AND FIVE KEY PLAYERS".were missing from this GAME .
And the fact that " Bill" lost faith in the very plan that "DOMINATED" the first half proves my point.
And last but not least i'll state this for the record "If lovie don't PANIC"and run for cover when MANNY STARTS BOMBING THAT WEAK secondary he's going to KNOCK THAT SUPERMAN S OFF HIS CHEST.
Gentleman i'll be waiting.
THE FRED FACTOR!

Now you're calling for Belichick's head? Damn! Talk about what have you done for me lately!!! Belichick didn't abandon anything in the second half, it's just that the Patriots were ahead and Tony Dungy made adjustments at halftime. See Fred all of your "Fred Facts" are based upon the assumption that Tony Dungy is a complete moron and will keep doing the same thing in the first half that put his team behind. Well Dungy's not a moron Fred. He made changes to the offense and they worked. The Colts defeated the Patriots fair and square. The game is over, move on. You should be more concerned of the future instead of the past, in particular about Bruschi contemplating retirement because then runningbacks are gonna wear out their cleats running on the Pats D!

Re: patriot

First of all this is a golden opportunity to challenge a senoir member I'm sure.
Now, I start by saying I operate by the golden rule meaning no excuse for playing not to lose.
I'll quote John C. Maxwell as saying "The golden rule can be used to create common ground with any reasonable person".
You see that's why I'm correct bill played not to lose in the second half that is a fact sir.
And thank you again for allowing me to Fred Fact another fan.

Well you're welcome but you just continually give no credit to Peyton Manning, Tony Dungy and the Indianapolis Colts. I believe the Patriots put enough points on the board and kept on coming back to show that they were playing to win. Or if that Fred Fact is true (which I don't think it is) but just saying they were playing not to lose...it was putting points on the board and clearly working. The Patriots didn't choke, they lost. The game is long over now and there's nothing anyone can do about it and that's not a Fred Fact...that's just a fact.

Re: patriot

First of all two quick Fred Facts.
1) Bill did not show any respect or convidence in his game plan in the second half of the game .
2) He did not maintain any convidence in his decision to replace super star players and coaches with substandered players and coaches with the exception:Brady,Semore,Vrabel, and bruski forgive me if I spelled it wrong.
Thats why I stand corrected he choked for the first time in his career as a head coach for the patriots.
Is that agreeable sir and all you other sirs.
I have other facts sir I just want to make this as painless as possible.
Once again another Fred the Factor moment.

Re: patriot

Glad you shared that Fred The Factor moment. Please allow me to share a simple fact...it's over. Yes the game is over and it's time to move on. If the Pats choked than you can make an argument that the Saints, Seahawks, Ravens, Chiefs, etc. choked too. Every team could look back and think of things they could have done differently to win a game. It doesn't work that way however. There's no rewind button in life. The Patriots won 3 Superbowls and you should be exstatic about that. Where does "the tuck rule" stand in terms of Fred Facts? Nobody complains about the tuck rule because it's way in the past. Get over it Fred. The Patriots will be playing football again in september.
