The Boston Globe is reporting that the Patriots, who decided not to use the franchise tag on Adam Vinatieri, might allow the kicker to test the free agent market.

I imagine demand for a kicker of his talent level will be quite high, possibly down in Dallas? Parcells sure had a lot of problems with kickers last year and I believe Vinatieri played for him when he was coaching New England.

On top of this, i saw rumors online today that Mike Vanderjagt may also become free. Imagine the Pats swapping the best clutch kicker in the NFL for quite possibly the worst.

The clock is ticking on negotiations between the Patriots and kicker Adam Vinatieri. The Patriots have until Friday to strike a deal with the franchise’s all-time leading scorer or risk letting him hit the open market as a free agent.
