Tom Brady - Greatest QB Ever?

Is Tom Brady one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time?

This question was born out of the Vick sounds off to HBO thread. While debating whether or not Vick is an overrated QB, Brady's name came up, and the issue of whether or not he was one of the best passers of all time arose.

Now, I know a lot of people who, after the Patriots great Super Bowl runs, wanted to put Brady in the Hall of Fame already. It just makes me wonder -- would you say he's one of the best QB's in NFL history? Or is it too early to make such a bold statement?

Re: Tom Brady - Greatest QB Ever?

well, as much of a Pats fan and homer as i am, i would say its a little early

although, "one of the greatest" is such a tough question anyway

everyone has there own criteria

is it passing yards, completion percentage, TD to interception ratio, Super Bowl rings ?

no one seems to be able to agree

Re: Tom Brady - Greatest QB Ever?

I try to envision who I would take to start my all-time team when trying to think of the greatest ever. It's not Tom Brady, nothing against the guy.

I don't have him in my top 5. At best he is in the top 3-5 of the current crop. Maybe in time he can sneak into a top five list but not now. Heck he is not even the best around these days.

Guys I'd take over him in an All-time team...Montana, Elway, Staubach, Johnny U, Peyton Manning, Marino, Favre.

He would be in my second tier with Tarkenton, Starr, Bobby Layne, Otto Graham, Bradshaw (he had some awful years and a great D), etc

Re: Tom Brady - Greatest QB Ever?

I always thought Namath was the best pure passer I ever saw. Nobody could throw the ball like him. Staubach, though, is my pick if I have to win one game.

Darn, I forgot Kelly and Young...though I am a Cowboy fan, I will give him a tie with Aikman.

Welcom TC...

Got to disagree on the Marino and Peyton bit...those three titles were not Brady wins but Pats wins...give Marino those teams and he is in...

Just like Aikman...he had a total ball club around him...

Heck, I'd take my chances with Archie Manning who never played for a winner but was one hell of a QB...

Too many times that Hall of Fame ticket is stamped by a team not an individual.

Thumbs down Re: Tom Brady - Greatest QB Ever?

Are you guys serious? The greatest ever? Tom Brady was blessed with the good fortune to be on a good team. He has an excellent front line along with handy recievers. I'll give him credit for not having top notch recievers but you also have to take into consideration that alot has to go right with protection, wide outs getting open and a well schemed gameplan for any QB to be successful. The whole team as well as the coaches should take more credit for the recent success for the Pats, than Tom brady. This is a team sport. There is defense, special teams and offense that needs to be accountable. Many people think that it was Brady winning all of those games, when really the defense kept the games close and Adam Vinatieri would finish them. Everybody to needs to see for themselves before they start making these claims. All he has is the rings. Remember the tuck rule, or Ty Laws three ints on Peyton or hell even Vinatieri's clutch leg. There are many reasons why those championships were won other than his game managment. Joe Montana never managed a game he would flat out dominate in big games.
You cannot put Brady in the same breath as Joe Montana because Brady has never had to win the game with his arm. He had a chance last year in Indy to do it and a rookie picked him off to end their season. Forget about the rings for one minute. He is nowhere near a great QB. average at best. This is not a Brady bash. I just want more recognition given to the team not just the QB. In hindsight if the team does bad he'll get criticism too. He was blessed to be on a good team partially built by Bill Parcells. That's for all you "Billechick is a genius" gubers. all of the media needs to stop blowing smoke up this fools ass and expose hi for what he really is. Average at best. Case and point, this year brady has Moss, Stallworth, and troy brown. Top notch recievers. This year the won't even make it to the playoffs. all of the teams in that AFC east got better. Even the dolphins will provide the annual Brady spanking. Please stop calling this guy great and make him earn our respect. you know who else managed the game that were not calling great? Trent dilfer, brad jonhson even Jeff Hostetler were all good game managers with rings. Are they condidered great QB's? Let it go people. Let it go!
