Maroney, Patriots Run All Over Bengals

CINCINNATI (Oct. 1) - A rookie running back helped the New England 's offense play like old times.

Laurence Maroney ran for 125 yards and a pair of touchdowns Sunday, restoring balance to the Patriots ' offense and setting up a 38-13 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals

New England (3-1) savored the big day by its offense, so balky a week earlier that Tom Brady uncharacteristically waved his arms in frustration during a loss to Denver . The only time he lifted his arms on Sunday was to signal another Patriots touchdown.

that was a very convincing win

ot's so great to see the rookie doing so well

and dont worry, when needed, Dillon still has it too

Re: Maroney, Patriots Run All Over Bengals

Maroney is really something - he's been the best of the rookie running backs so far this year, if you ask me. And man, the Bengals were my Super Bowl pick, but you guys pretty much ate them for lunch.

That's the thing about pro football - its hard to tell week in and week out which teams are the contenders and which are the pretenders. Cincy still could be a playoff team, but this game shows some obvious holes, and New England sure looked a lot better yesterday than they did against the Broncos.

Pats still the best team in the AFC East? 3-1 record despite all the "woe-is-me" talk about losing too many offensive weapons and defensive stars. I still think they're not quite as good as they've been in the past, and while the Jets and Bills are on the rise, New England has convinced me that they're still the favorites in this division.

the next 2 games will tell alot i think

they play Miami and they play the Bills again

2 wins there and they will basically have the East locked up i think, barring serious injury

Re: Maroney, Patriots Run All Over Bengals

I don't know if the Bengals run defense is still that bad or if Laurence Maroney is that good. Maroney is a good back and should quickly turn into a great back.

But do the Pats have what it takes to compete with Indianapolis (right now, it seems everyone can), Baltimore, San Diego and dare I say....the Jets? lol, I'm interested in watching the Pats/Jets Round 2 game this year.

Well he sat on my bench in fantasy...glad I didn't end up needing him. I like this kid. They say he can pick up the blitz and block also.
