The Nebraska Cornhuskers went 8-4 and beat Michigan in the Alamo Bowl last season, and hot on the heels of that 2005 campaign, there are big expectations in Husker land this year. "I think these are the highest expectations there have been in Lincoln probably since Eric Crouch's last year (2001) when the Cornhuskers played for the national championship," Sean Callahan of Huskers Illustrated recently told Rivals.com. "It's been 1999 since Nebraska went to the Big 12 championship game. Anything less than going to Kansas City and playing for the Big 12 championship is going to be a disappointment." So will they make it to the Big 12 title game?

The Huskers have more talent than any other team in the Big12 north. That doesn't always mean they will win the north, but I do like their chances. A Big12 title game against Oklahoma would be the perfect game for all Husker fans and all college football fans old enough to remember how special that rivalry has been over the years.

Calahan bothers me; I'm still not sold that he's a better coach than Solich was. What do you think?

Callahan has not done anything to make me believe he won't succeed at Nebraska. He has proven to be an effective recruiter and has completely revamped a team that never was very good throwing the ball. Huskers now have WRs that may be NFL prospects along with their typical solid defense. Huskers should win the Big12 north and play for the Big12 title game in Kansas City, which happens to be pretty close to Lincoln.
