Mike Rozier elected to HOF

Mike Rozier was one of 13 new members elected to the College Football Hall Of Fame. He won the Heisman Trophy after the 1983 season when he rushed for 2,148 yards on 275 carries and scored 29 Tds that season. The 1983 Cornhuskers are probably the greatest college team ever that did not win the national championship when Tom Osborne elected to go for 2 instead of settling for the tie and guaranteed championship. Rozier is just the 13th Husker player to enter the Hall of Fame. For more info go to:

I remember Rozier and the game in the 1983 (actually played in 1984) when they lost to Miami by a point...I thought the man would have a better pro career ...Still he managed 4462 yards in the pros and onr glorious 1000 yard year (1002 and 10 TDs in 198...

Here is another nice article on Rozier

http://www.journalstar.com/articles/...c707675895.txt

Rozier averaged 179 yards per game and ran for 4,780 yards, plus 49 touchdowns and 26 100-yard games, in his three years at Nebraska.

“I can’t think of a better college running back,” said Frank Solich, head coach at Ohio and former NU head coach and Rozier’s running back coach in 1983. “He averaged 7.8 yards a carry as a senior, and nobody else has done that. He helped us win a lot of games, and he was just a great guy to be around.”

Solich recruited Rozier out of high school.

Re: Mike Rozier elected to HOF

Actually, that Miami game for the championship is the reason Rozier's pro career didn't pan out as well as expected. On about the 3rd or 4th play of that game after Rozier had just broke a 25 yard+ gain, the Miami defense rode him more than 20 yards out of bounds and drove him into the Miami team bench. They destroyed his knee in the process and he missed the rest of that game, probably costing the Huskers the championship as well. I will always hate Miami for that play. A 15 yard penalty hardly makes up for losing our greatest RB ever.

Sorry man, its been more than two decades...can't remember the play he got hurt on...maybe I'll catch it on ESPN classic some day...caught the Flutie TD pass against Miami a few months ago...that one still looks as great as before...
