| Nebraska vs. Kansas State: Preview analysis What’s at stakeThe carrot called bowl eligibility continues to dangle out there for K-State, which was eliminated from the North Division race by losing at Iowa State. As for Nebraska, pride is on the line. Whether coach Bill Callahan’s job remains on the line is debatable, as many believe this is Callahan’s last game in Lincoln regardless of how the Huskers finish the year. Cheers if … The team that emerges from the K-State locker room isn’t in the same malaise that prohibited it from starting fast the last two weeks against Baylor and Iowa State. The Wildcats need to show more fire when the ball is kicked off. A slow start didn’t cost the Wildcats against a weakling like Baylor. But it sure hurt against improving Iowa State. Jeers if … K-State fails to pick up where Kansas left off. It is hard to imagine Nebraska has a quick fix for its defensive issues, so the Wildcats ought to have a field day. Three things about Nebraska 1 No matter how bad it appears in Lincoln, coach Bill Callahan says he has no intention of simply walking away from it. “The term resignation is not in our vocabulary,” Callahan said during his weekly media briefing. 2 Quarterback Joe Ganz wasn’t bad in his first career start. Ganz threw for 405 yards at Kansas, the third-most passing yards in Nebraska history. He completed six passes of 20 yards or more, including plays of 62 and 60 yards. 3 Stopping the rush is a problem. Nebraska ranks next to last in the country at rushing defense. The Huskers allow 240.1 yards per game, an average of 5.3 per carry. Nebraska vs. Kansas State: Preview analysis
