Fire Bill Callahan!

Funny how quickly things can change in college football. Just over a month ago, Nebraska coach Bill Callahan was given contract extension worth $1.75 million over each of the next five years. Now, there's talk that the University may be ready to fire not only him, but also the AD who hired him, Steve Pederson. Callahan is 26-18 in his collegiate coaching career, and his Huskers are fresh off back-to-back blowout losses to Missouri and Oklahoma State. So, should he be canned?

It should be noted that the 38-0 halftime deficit to Oklahoma State was the worst halftime deficit at home in the entire 118 years that Nebraska has played football. Defensive coordinator Kevin Cosgrove has stated that he will refuse to resign, my guess is he will be the next one fired. Callahan has shown that he can recruit with the best of coaches, but he hasn't shown that he is able to coach. His teams lack fire and passion due to his lack of understanding how to motivate kids before big games. We are ready for a new coach that won't look down upon the fans of Husker Nation as a bunch of fu$%^in hillbillies!

Re: Fire Bill Callahan!

This program is in so much dissarry that I dont know where to begin. Surely we have given Callahan enough oppurtunities to turn this grotesque season around. Who do we turn to to reinstall the pride and tradition this team has always stood for?

The name most heard mentioned has been Bo Pellini, but there are some other rumors that involve Navy coach Paul Johnson, interesting choice if picked due to his run oriented offense.

Re: Fire Bill Callahan!

Back when Callahan was hired, if I recall correctly, it was the "modernize" the Husker offense and move away from the option game, right? Well, seeing as how well that worked, I actually think a lot of people would welcome Johnson and his triple option - especially seeing how definitively he outcoached Charlie Weis yesterday.
