Nebraska vs. Nevada

The Cornhuskers open their season against Nevada. While Nevada's no powerhouse, this should be a challenging enough warm-up for Nebraska to see what they're really made of. Sam Keller could wind up being one of the better QBs in the Big 12, and Bo Ruud leads a quality set of linebackers. This team has all the tools to make a run at a conference title in 2007. Will we see them live up to that kind of potential on Saturday?

Marlon Lucky had a statement game with 230 yards rushing and 33 more recieving. Huskers racked up more than 400 yards rushing for the game and more than 600 yards total offense. The new placekicker kicked almost every kickoff out of the end zone, a very powerful leg that will prevent many returns. Keller and the offense made it look easy against Nevada while the defense held Nevada to less than 200 yards for the game. Nevada's one score came off of an 80 yard TD interception return of a tipped ball, otherwise the Blackshirts pretty much shut down Nevada. Next week Huskers travel to Wake Forest, that should prove to be a better test.

Re: Nebraska vs. Nevada

No doubt about it - the Huskers dominated this one, and they looked damn impressive in my book. 625 total yards of offense vs. just 185 yards for Nevada. 35 first downs to 9. Nebraska punted twice; the Wolfpack had to kick it away 10 times and were just 1-for-13 on third down conversions. They definitely look like a team that could challenge for the Big 12 title this year, no doubt about it. It's not like Nevada's a I-AA team or anything, you know, this was a tougher opener than some teams scheduled.
