Texas @ Nebraska

Texas comes to Lincoln for a possible Big12 title game preview. Both teams are 6-1 and both lost to unbeaten teams ranked in the top 2 in Ohio State and USC. This game should be a good one and I say the Huskers have a shot at beating Texas.

Re: Texas@Nebraska

Texas got off to a slow start against Baylor, but they won't make that mistake against the Cornhuskers. I dare say that the Longhorns win this game and win it in fairly convincing fashion, 41-17.

Re: Texas@Nebraska

While I think Nebraska is good, they are about a year or so away from being an elite team. Even with the 1 loss, Texas is an elite team. Texas should win this one, and I think rather easily.

Re: Texas@Nebraska

I will never pick against the Huskers, just can't do it. And so as always, I am picking the Huskers to win this week. As good as Texas is, they won't win in Lincoln with the type of inexperience they have at key positions. Nebraska's run defense will be among the best they see all year and the offense has a lot of options if the OL holds up in protection.

Hey Rat,

I have been a Husker fan since birth. I am a die-hard kool-aid drinking live and die Husker fan but I am also a realist. I do not want my team to lose but if your going to have any creditablity as a college football fan then you have to be realistic in your predictions. I will cheer for my beloved Huskers but it will take a perfect performance to beat this Texas team.

This is by far the best team that we will face all season. If Callahan thinks that we can come in and run the ball 70% of the time against the second ranked defense, we will lose! Remember the USC game plan, not very successful, we need to have a solid pass attack mixed in with the run. If this Texas defense has a weakness it is their secondary and we need to exploit their coverage. The Texas offense only weak spot might be Colt McCoy, if you can call that a weakness. The Blackshirts will need All-American performances out of the secondary and the front seven need to take it up a notch. Remember this is a team that gave up 550 plus yards to a backup Kansas QB, sickening.

Over the years, I have delveloped a distaste for drinking my own bath water...apparently you still enjoy yours.

GO BIG RED!!!!!!!!!!!

My I'm sorry prediction

Hi huskerbud, welcome to the site. As for a realist, I heard the same type of comments from a lot of people last year as I picked Nebraska over Colorado and then Michigan. I hope you're wrong and I'm right!

Re: Texas @ Nebraska

Texas didn't start slow against Baylor, Baylor just took it to the Longhorns by passing the ball effectively. Baylor was toe-to-toe with the horns until a few turnovers (qb fumbles). Nebraska can hang with them, just have to pass the ball. Texas has a puffy schedule, as usual.

Hi rancher66, welcome to GoTeamsGo

Going with the upset in this game? I just don't see it. My pick:

Texas: 28
Huskers: 17

Look forward to chatting more with you.

Re: Texas @ Nebraska

Hanging with them and beating them are two different things. My concern is the inability of this coaching staff to make offensive and defensive adjustments during the game.
First example:
I was at the USC game and I was really disappointed that we didn't take it to the air more than we did. Callahan thought that our best chance to win the game was to run. Come hell or high water he was not going to abandoned the plan even when the successful touchdown drive was the result of going to the pass. We played not to get blown out, even the local radio recognized that is how the Huskers played.
Second example:
To think that Cosgrove designed his whole defensive plan against Kansas to stop the shovel pass to Cornish but to never change the defense when a 2nd team QB was killing us downfield. Defensive linemen making excuses that their hands were tied with the game plan or that the crowd noise made it too difficult to hear defensive audibles. Don't tell your fans that the home crowd was too loud!!!

The Huskers are a much improved team this year and I am grateful that we are bowl eligible this early in the season but Texas is on another level. Please keep in mind that Texas has won 5 of the last 6 meetings and one of those wins came in Lincoln with a Freshman quarterback.

We need to play the perfect if we hope to win this weekend and it has been a long, long, long time since I've seen a perfect game from the Big Red.

GO BIG RED!!!!!!

Re: Texas @ Nebraska

We don't need a perfect game to win, but we do need to limit the mistakes to a minimum. Turnovers and winning 3rd downs are the key to this game for Nebraska.

Re: Texas @ Nebraska

Heartbreaking loss for the Huskers who appeared to have the game under wraps. Turnovers simply killed us today with Texas scoring 13 points off of turnovers. The last one was the crusher, on what appeared to be a 1st down completion and Texas out of 1st downs the Longhorns pulled out a miracle and forced a turnover after the completion.

Re: Texas @ Nebraska

Well, yes.
But don't forget the fact that U.T. should have had the game underwraps many times before with their kicking game (7 point swing.) Mack Brown won't lose another game, including the rematch against Nebraska in the Big 12 Championship. My only question is why in the hell is Florida and Notre Dame ahead of UT in the BCS poll. Computers suck. I wish UT could play both of them head to head.

Re: Texas @ Nebraska

In reply to Rancher66,
Yeah, quite a puffy schedule playing the #1 team in the nation the second week of the season with a rookie quarterback. Think about the fact that their only loss is against the number 1 team in America. And it was a real puffy schedule last year when they beat Ohio State, Oklahoma, and USC. Why you got to hate on UT? They're just that much better than Nebraska. Do you think they have a chance against UT if they play them in the Big 12 championship in a much warmer climate? ------------ Am I too real?
