Cornhuskers - Nicholls State game

Another warm-up for the Nebraska Cornhuskers; it's pretty much over already.

By KATE HEDLIN, STATS Writer

It took two years, but Nebraska's offense is finally where the coaching staff wants it to be.

After a dominating offensive performance last weekend, the 21st-ranked Cornhuskers take on Nicholls State at Memorial Stadium on Saturday.

Nebraska racked up 584 yards of offense last Saturday in a 49-10 win over Louisiana Tech. Quarterback Zac Taylor went 22-of-34 for 287 yards and three touchdowns while the I-formation running game produced 259 yards, led by Cody Glenn (88 yards), Marlon Lucky (79), Kenny Wilson (47) and Brandon Jackson (36).

"A lot of people didn't think it was going to work out that well because they thought someone was going to be unhappy," said Glenn, who rushed for 131 yards in his freshman season. "It worked out just how we expected it to work out."
I guess, then, its not a question of whether or not Nebraska wins, but by how much. What do you think? How many yards and points do you expect the now-clicking Bill Callahan offensive unit to put on the board?

Re: Cornhuskers - Nicholls State game

It's hard to get excited over a matchup with a Div. 1-AA team. This game wasn't about trying to put up big numbers, it was more about getting experience for the backups and working out any issues they may have in their schemes. Unfortunately, the Huskers weakest link was not tested at all today as the Colonels only attmpted 3 passes and completed none. They run an option attack with 3 RBs in the backfield which did little to help prepare for the USC game next week. On the bright side, once again 7 different Huskers found the end zone today and the offense was well balanced with over 250 yards rushing and somewhere around 300 yards passing. My prediction was 56-0 and I missed it only because Nicholls State did manage to get a late TD on their only drive that crossed mid field. The big game is next week at USC. If Huskers don't make mistakes, they can win that game but it will be difficult.
