NBA Hoping For Cavs Win?

I know this is anything but a minority of a thought but the NBA has got to be pinning their hopes on LeBron and the Cavs to win and go to the Finals instead of the Pistons. Another Spurs/Pistons series may be sweet for the fundamentalist fans but for mainstream sports fans, doesn't have a whole lot of zip to it.

So anyway, if the Cavs were to win, anybody give them a chance against Duncan and the Spurs?

Re: NBA Hoping For Cavs Win?

well of course youre dead on Empire

not just for the fans but also as they say for Madison Ave

Re: NBA Hoping For Cavs Win?

Yeah, people seem to think the Spurs are boring and lack star power. So does Detroit. If those two wound up meeting in the finals, it'd be a financial and ratings disaster for the NBA. At least with LeBron and the Cavs in the finals, you could bill it as King James against the quasi-dynasty from San Antonio, to see if the so-called anointed one can take the last step and become a champion.

Re: NBA Hoping For Cavs Win?

I doubt the Cavs would win but it would be fun to watch LeBron against the "Goliath" SPurs.

Re: NBA Hoping For Cavs Win?

It is unfair and likely planned out already, so be it. If the sport is indeed fixed, then the NBA is in deep trouble if they think LeBron alone can save it. I think the Pistons still have a chance to beat the CAVS in 7 and then Spurs will win overall in 6

Re: NBA Hoping For Cavs Win?

I hope the Cavs go on, lebron has been very impressive and why are so many people hyping the spurs, yes they win and have weapons but they are boring, the only action I see is when they cut away to show parkers fiance eva longoria, besides that its useless, the cavs, pistons, and jazz are more exciting..but hey the spurs are winning so lets go eva..

I don't think the fix is in... or else Phoenix, Dallas or L.A. would've come out of the West. The Spurs are a great team but they aren't big ratings getters.

The Spurs don't get high ratings? I did not know that. They are one of the best teams on the court, though.

They don't play flashy ball, and in the eyes of a lot of people, Tim Duncan isn't in the same league as Kobe, LeBron, etc. -- which is BS of course, but that's beside the point because it is popular opinion. They win but they do it playing essentially fundamental (read: "boring") basketball. So 90% of the NBA's core audience could care less about them, naturally.

Re: NBA Hoping For Cavs Win?

I would be in the other 10%. As long as my team wins, I would not care how they did it.

Re: NBA Hoping For Cavs Win?

Regardless who comes out of the East (looks like the Cavs), Spurs will win it all.

Cool Re: NBA Hoping For Cavs Win?

The NBA simply wants LeBron to be the next Jordan. That's what built up the NBA during the 90's....The casual fans tuned in JUST to watch Jordan. That means lots of $$$$$$$.

So yeah - I would say the NBA is estatic that the Cavs advanced and LeBron is starting to perform like Jordan.

Kobe and LeBron are god, and Tim Duncan is like their angel.

Not in the same class.

That's one of the problems with the NBA and Jordan...since he left the league has been looking (and fans too) to annoint the next MJ. Whether it was Grant Hill, Vince Carter, Kobe Bryant, now LeBron...nobody will be. It's just impossible.
