2 "regulars" get tapped:
Quote:
Brad Hicks, crew chief of the No. 01 Chevrolet driven by Danny O'Quinn Jr., and Corrie Stott, crew chief for the No. 02 Chevrolet of driver Andy Ponstein, have each been fined $2,000 for violating Section 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing); 12-4-1 (any determination by NASCAR officials that the race equipment used in the event does not conform to NASCAR rules) and 20A-12.1A(10) (jacking bolt must be made of solid magnetic steel: hollow bolt) of the 2009 NASCAR Nationwide Series rule book.

That's two weeks in a row for O'Quinn's team. I guess that's the state of the series though. These guys need to go so far as to use a hollow jacking bolt to get back some of what the Cup Raiders have.

Re: Two crew chiefs fined for rules violation at Fontana

hollow jacking bolt only saves a few ounces of weight but it introduces a weakness into the suspension.

if O'Quinn and/or Ponstein were running up front, I might be persuaded to go along with it as a last ditch effort to get a win, but they're so far back, those few ounces aren't going to make any difference at all .. except in reducing the cash in their pockets.

those kinds of cheats don't improve performance. attention to details and having good, experienced leaders on your team is what improves performance.
