It's obvious that the Nashville Predators have built a good team right in the middle of Tennessee. They've managed to become a team that we all expect to make it into the NHL playoffs. Quite a feat for a place that just can't be called a hockey town.

But now the Predators are up against several of their core players becoming free agents.

Center Yanic Perreault

Defensemen Mark Eaton
Defensemen Danny Markov
Defensemen Brendan Witt
Defensemen Marek Zidlicky

All of these guys were contributors to the success of the Nashville Predators this year but it's not likely that we'll get to resign all these guys. Chris Mason played really well while Thomas Vokoun was out so won't be surprised if he could be the #1 gaolie for another team.

Since I'm pretty new to hockey, can you experienced fans give me any insight into what's gonna happen with the Preds & free agency?

Eventually all team rosters look like old Leaf gettogethers.
Perreault use to be one of my favourites on the Leafs - great face-off man. He injured himself close to the playoffs the first year we had him and was out for months, then let go. he went down to the minors for a while this year, didn't he? Still, highly skilled. Needs to score more.
Danny markov was a great feisty defenseman. Would love to have him back on leafs - he'd block a train coming to the net.
Are Witt and Zidlicky not still pretty decent defencemen too?
Bet you do hang on to mason, though. Sillinger and Johnson too - if most of these guys leave, I'm interested in seeing what the Predators look like next year.
