Preds ink Legwand to massive extension

David Legwand has re-upped with the Predators for six years and a hefty $27 million.
Nashville has been Legwand's only home in the NHL, since the club took him second overall in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft. This is a definite step in the right direction for a franchise that is trying to regain credibility after recently purging their roster of some of their star players over the past year. Legwand is the team's all-time leader goals and points and will have a chance to really set some lofty standards over the next six years.

I like Legwand...but if the NHL thinks this is a $27 million kid...they have not learned a thing about league finances...I wouldn't offer half of that for a good, not great player.

Dude he may be the best the Preds have, but he does not have star power...he is not a draw in the NHL...for that kind of bread you need to put people in seats and Legwand can't do that...

He may be overpaid by your standards but there aren't many 25-30 goal centers that are also stifling defensively. Big name players rarely seem to tee off on the predators...we get beat by secondary scoring. In my book hes worth every penny..
