Simething tells me it was Bobby Issac who pulled into the pits because a "Voice told him that he would be killed if he continued." I don't remember the race nor date and I don't think I ever read anything which verified it.

Bobby pulled off the track (Hickory) but it was with 25 laps left. Didn't he die right after that ??? The voice must have been calling him home.

According to Isaac a strange "voice" in the car told him to retire from driving because it threatened he would be killed.
Bobby did not live to enjoy any of the accolades. He pulled out of a 1977 Late Model Sportsman race at Hickory Motor Speedway with 25 laps left, and died of a heart attack.

Chuck Bown? I'm racking my brain but he's the only one with the initials of "C.B. who I can picture ever leading a BGN race. If it was a BGN short track I'll guess either Nashville, Rougemont, South Boston or Hickory. Reason? His wife wanted to become with child and he wanted to be there for the occasion?

chuck bown is correct .........he was leading ,and just before a re-start for a couple lap finish, he pulled off the track because his seat belts came loose......

You you remember which track? Now that you mention it, it does seem vaguely familar.

Speaking of Chuck, do you know if that NASCAR tech school he and his sister tried to start in Mooresville ever got off the ground?
Chuck was a good driver and was a BGN champ, if memory serves me. That wreck he had really put the kabosh on his career.
