| Re: Manufacturer's first win Quote:
What are the parameters of "Modern Era? 1971 - Present? Is "Manufacturer" defined as car brand (Chevrolet), sub brand (Camaro) or entire corporation (GM)? |

Modern Era .. 1973 to present (according to the source where I found the data) Manufacturer .. the car brand, not model nor corporation. one of the manufacturers is so easy anyone who misses it should receive at least 40 lashes with a wet noodle, Chinese, preferably (cause they're so much bigger!) |

| Re: Manufacturer's first win i'm looking at Mfg records as I write this and the only one I see is AMC Matador (5, '73 thru '75). This is, of course, discounting the fact that Nash had a single win but that was long before Nash and Hudson became AMC. Mark Donahue, I believe in 1973, probably at Riverside. Buick almost made it but they had two lone wins back in 1955. Respecting your knowledge, I'm betting that I'm mis-reading or just plain missing something. I'll await the answer.

It was an interesting read from the NASH and Hudson up thru Jeep and to Chrysler. But one fact remained, the older models didn't carry over into the new organizations and several times the company wasn't in racing at all. There's at least one more manufacturer. Who is it? |

| Re: Manufacturer's first win Aaaaaaaaaaauyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Duck, I'll give you points for sneakiness! You're right, it was so obvious... Toyota 3/9/08 Atlanta Kyle Busch I was tearing my hair out on this one. |

| Re: Manufacturer's first win KEE-RECT! I knew the pre-modern thing would throw people off. There were only 2 who's fist win came in the "modern" era: AMC and Toyota. Now, cogitate on this: if Fiat does, in fact, become the new owner of Chrysler, and if they also buy Opel from GM, anybody have a crystal ball moment about what the next brand in NASCAR might be? (How many of you know that Fiat owns Ferrari and that Fiat has been in racing for a long, long time?) |

| Re: Manufacturer's first win Actually, the next brand in NASCAR looks like it's going to the Nissan. Rumor mill here in Mooresville says that they have already submitted the plans for a COT Maxima and Nationwide spec Maxima to NASCAR for approval. The next question will be what teams... Hmmmm |

| Re: Manufacturer's first win Quote:
I know it's coming but my bet was on Honda. Now, since you're closer to the action than we, is NA__AR going to change the rule as to the manufacturer must produce a in-head valve V8 engine to accommodate Nissan, should this be true? |

| Re: Manufacturer's first win Quote:
and on the Fiat note would they race Ferrarri? and if so would that even work cause thats a totally different type of car then NASCAR |

| Re: Manufacturer's first win Quote:
nah, Fiat would probably opt for the Opel flavored COT body (after all, it isn't necessary the NASCAR version actually resemble any streetcar they may have) .. and petition NASCAR to allow them to run one of their 6 cyl, 3 liter, turbocharged engines. Nascar, seeing such a small, underpowered engine would allow them to go all the way to 4 liters (just to help make it sorta competitive.) And, since Opel used to be an American brand (many years ago .. or so many people thought), there wouldn't be any homologation issues involved.... |
