NASCAR Trivia - International

OK... You folks have my attention! I've wandered into a site full of NASCAR history buffs, right? (I still am shaking my head over the Bob Pronger question)

OK here is one more that should take more than an hour for someone to answer:

NASCAR Winston Cup has had drivers from six of the seven continents. (They couldn't get a seat to fit a penguin, hence no driver from Antarctica)

Fill in the blanks with any driver you can find:

North America....................
South America...................
Europe.............................
Australia..........................
Asia.................................
Africa...............................

The first three are give-aways, the forth isn't too difficult, the fifth won't be too hard but number six...? Good luck but it happened.

Two out of seven. Not bad for a first try. Methinks this one may prove to be a toughie?

I was referring to his nationality. However, I'll concede to you. There were others but Mario'll do. Good job!

Re: NASCAR Trivia - International

Okay, did some digging and found an Australian driver named Dick Johnson who spent some time in Winston Cup.

But that's all I've been able to dig up so far. You gave us a good one here, Bob!

Right. Dick Johnson was from Brisbane. The most famous Aussie to drive in Cup was probably Jack Brabham, a former F1 World Champ, in 1994.
Keep digging. We still still have openings for the South America and Africa answer. There have been multiple South American drivers but, I can find only one African driver.
Remember, this question specified since NASCAR became Winston Cup, so that narrows down the search a bit.
Happy hunting...

Good job. It does. Well, now you and several others have a bit more knowledge so the exercise was successful.

If my little trivia questions have piqued some one's interest enough to do some reading and studying, I am happy.

However, I have some little tid bits which I know are not on the net, or at least buried very deeply.

Watch for them.

Re: NASCAR Trivia - International

Bob ....

With everything that is on the internet the only thing that may have escaped is some bad deed you and another of your sibblings may have done back in 1954. That was before Al Gore invented the internet.
