You did jog my memory a bit with your guess. I did some researching and found out Speedy won the '60 Charlotte race you mention driving for the Wood Bros. I never realized he ever drove for them.
I was hoping that some of that old, fairly, useless information might come in handy one day.

Re: Nascar Trivia

For us heterosexuals that seem to find the abnormal abhorrent...that may be what is referred to as "way too much information." Frankly, I like girls and I like guys who like girls and I really don't have to dwell on those that choose to walk sideways down the path of life if I don't want to: brokeback my toosh!

I have to say I strongly concur. It was just one of those little bits of odd (REALLY ODD) information I've picked up along the way. When the question was asked about J.T. Hayes, I just went into answer mode.
After such racing "epics" such as Six Pack, Days of Thunder, and the up coming Talladega Nights, I bet it makes NASCAR fan's collective hair hurt to think of a possible Brokeback Oval.

Speaking of brokeback.... When I went to Dega, my friends and I saw an RV that had painted on the side "Brokeback Team 5,24,25,48". My friends and I couldn't stop laughing. Those characters where Joe Gibbs fans. I also saw the previews for Talladega Nights.... I'm not sure about it. Alot of fans seemed to be excited about it. Me... well, I'll have to see it first.

It was a Chevy but who was his sponsor?

I did some research and J.T. (aka Terri) started on June 21st, 1990 at Rockingham driving a Ford for Junie Donlevey. I couldn't find a sponsor mentioned but I do believe Red Baron Pizza was sponsoring Junie's car at the time.

I found this on an old archived story on Jayski.

You found it too. I was in error on the date and the sponsor, but I guess I had "most" of it correct. Now I guess the discussion of J.T./Terri is about complete and he/she or whatever can be put back in the recesses of NASCAR history.

Thanks to you for making me get my facts correct and for lilsexy08 for bringing up the topic. I'd like to know how lilsexy came up with the original question about "Johnny" Hayes. I couldn't find a single incidence of any article referring to him as Johnny?

Anyway, it's questions lioke lilsexy80's which keep NASCAR trivia interesting. Thanks

Yep. The very first NASCAR race in fact (6/19/49)

Place :Charlotte Speedway
Driver: Jim Roper
Car: 1949 Lincoln #34
Sponsor: Mecklenburg Moters
Prize: $2000

Note. Roper was awarded 1st place after 1st place finisher Glenn Dunnaway, ('47 Ford) was disqualified for running illegal springs (heavyu "moonshine runner springs).
