12,716 miles - racing miles, that is. these were distributed across 32 races at 19 different tracks with the longest races (4) being 501 miles and the shortest being 186 miles.

Actually, according to the 1998 NASCAR Preview and Press Guide, it was 12,715.08 miles. But then, I'm probably the world champion picker of nits.
