In 1963 I paid $7.50 for a ticket to Daytona, in the Oldfield stands. So it had to be less than that... The 1950 Darlington paid something like $24,000 in total prize money and the attendance figures were 25,000 people... The race had no corporate sponsorship so I figure Brasington paid less than half the gate as purse so my guess is... $2.50 or $3.00 for a seat in the open bleachers. How close did I come?

| Re: Darlington trivia You are probably closer, Dustin. If I remember correctly, back in the early 50's a hamburger and fries cost around 15-20 cents and a hamburger steak dinner with potatos and gravey was around $1.25. I can't imagine him getting almost double the cost of a meal for a ticket. What threw me was the 25,000 attendence with the $24,000 prize fund. I'm interested in seeing this one's answer. |

| Re: Darlington trivia So, it looks like Brasington made a substancial profit on the event? How in the world did you come up with this question? You must be in possession of ticket stubs? |
