Appears to be JD McDuffie with 653 starts, 12 top 5's, 106 top 10's, a best finish of 3rd, and one pole (Dover). Now there may be someone else hiding in the statistics, but JD is one I've found.

Have a Racing Champions, still in the "bubble" wrap, JD McDuffie collectible. Picked it up just after his unfortunate death at the Glen(?). Know it was a road couse and was watching the race that day.

All correct answers. Good research job. I too was watching the race that day. I never suspected the impact was that hard.

I was watching it also. I still remember Jimmy Means stopping and running over to the car, looking in and then just turning away, shaking his head. J.D. was one of the really great independents. I also remember the 1988 Daytona 500 when he and Delma Cowart hauled their cars in on open trailers.
