Pardon me?!?

Okay, after the "ragtop division" thing, here's a lighter and easier bit of trivia.

This bit of trivia does not have a lot of “depth”. The answer should be uncovered fairly quickly. Best it provides for a few will be one of those – “did not think that could actually be true” – moments. Here goes -

As can be witnessed on any given Sunday drivers and their crews can have differences of opinions on race strategies. The drivers, caught up in the heat of the moment, can sound irrational when compared to the relatively calming and cool responses they receive back from their crew chief. How many tires, when to pit, what adjustments to make – the list is long.

One retired driver, part of one of the current broadcast teams, received perhaps the strangest reason against his expressed (over the team radio) desire/inclination to “pit now” ever heard.

Eventually this conversation was broadly exposed to NASCAR fans, providing a touch of humor to the sport.

Who was the driver?

And if the desire is there to take it a step further – Who was the team owner?

And of course – What was the reason the team gave the driver?

Re: Pardon me?!?

Yeah but the extra info was nice. Plus there aren't to many drivers in the booth at this point. Some of the drivers who are in the booth aren't/weren't really that good. Another discussion for another place.
