When (year) was the first recorded use of two-way radios used during a race?

Daytona

Modified Sportsman Race

CONFLICTING INFO:

1954 was also the first year a driver used a two-way radio to communicate with his crew during a race. Lee Petty, father of NASCAR legend Richard Petty, won the Grand National championship in 1954.

Stevens was kinda communicating with his crew; they just weren't in the pits. They were in wreckers stationed at both ends of the Daytona Beach/Hywy 1 turns.
