Love for Daytona

This starting position has launched the most Daytona 500 winners?

Re: Love for Daytona

Here's another for you daytona Lovers:
In 1884 Cale Yarborough won from the pole position. The following year Bill Elliott won from the same position.
It 1999 Mikey Waltrip won from the pole and the following year Dale Jarrett followed suit from 1st.

I believe only one other starting position has produced winners in consecutive Daytona 500's. The position? The drivers and the years?

Mikey won in 2001 not 1999 and I assume you meant 1984

Nope. 1984 and 1985 was the other time cars from the same starting position won consecutive 500's. There was one other time and it wasn't from the pole position.

Hint: It was from the 500 and NOT the twin qualifiers. Up until the mid- 60's the twin qualifiers counted as regular season races and I think consecutive wins from the same position happened in the twins also..

I stand corrected. Nine is right. Quick searches will screw you up every time, eh?
