Julian, I certainly do not hate you, or anyone else on this board. However I have a MAJOR dislike for Jeff Gordon going back to when he left Bill Davis after he groomed him for Cup in the Busch series. That was a rotton thing to do, and left a sour taste in a lot of peoples mouths for Jeff. Unfortunately, I cannot help myself to either start a thread or jump into one after he does some bonehead thing on or off the track. Just try and laugh it off as it is not a personal attack on Gordon fans..........just the man himself. He is just one of the guys some of us love to hate. Don

Not to burst your little Jeffie bubble!!! But indyNASCARgirl also defends your little Jeffie!! To bad you all don't have more members here to defend him!!!! Sad but true that is just the way it is!!!! I know that I'm a member of GBA (Gordon Bashers Anonymous), don't worry it doesn't exist, I made it up!! LOL!! But if you look, you can see that my "name" is Team YATES and I really don't think that you saw me defending "my guys" a whole lot!!! We all commend you for sticking up for your guy, as you said, that is "what you are suppose to do"!! Unfortunately, for you there are not many Gordon "fans" here on this site, so I guess that you have to take the brunt of it!! And you do a pretty good job of not going off the "deep end" and bashing anybody so KUDO'S to you for defending your little Jeffie!! I guess that somebody has to do that dirty job!!! |

| Re: Just a thought I don't hate any driver. I've got my favorites and, like you, I'll defend them. Then there are some that drive me so insane I really wish they weren't on the track. Jeff is somewhere in the middle for me. I don't dislike him, but he's not one of my favorites either.

I give him a bit more credit than that. While I lost a lot of respect for Jeffie when he stabbed Bill Davis in the butt. You might be too young to remember so let me enlighten you: Bill brought Jeff up to BGN because Larry Nuber, who was an announcer for NASCAR on TNN and who saw a lot of talent in young Jeff, promoted him with gusto to Hendrick, Roush, Gary Bechtel and Yates. Bill Davis took him and had Jeff on a race-to-race deal for the first half of the season. Jeff proved himself, and with a handshake and a signed letter of intent to continue with Bill Davis, Davis acquired major sponsorship and a large amount of backing from Ford. Then in early August (I believe it was) of 1992, Bill was watching the local news on Charlotte TV and the sports reporter reported that "New phenom driver," Jeff Gordon who had recently won a race for car owner Bill Davis, had signed a long-term contract with Rick Hendrick and a major sponsor. This was how Davis found out Jeffie had indicated that his handshake was worth so much cow manure and the guy who took a flyer on him and let him wreck a fair amount of cars getting experience was left out in the dark. He never even had the decency to tell Bill he had an offer from Hendrick (who stole a driver from a fellow owner and whose "miracle cancer cure" tells me all I need to know about this guy). I know. Many people who aren't from my generation think you do whatever it takes to make money (hookers have this same philosophy), but I come from an era when a man's handshake is his bond and failure to live up to said handshake is an obvious indication of flawed character. As a driver, Jeff Gordon is absolutely one of the best and I respect his talent greatly. However, I have yet to have a single person adequately defend Jeffie's unethical behaviour to my satisfaction. Care to try?
