Kahne remains 11th in standings Kahne remains 11th in standings SCENEDAILY - 11:24AM ET SUNDAY AUGUST 27, 2006 - BY BOB POCKRASS - ASSOCIATE EDITOR BRISTOL, Tenn. - Kasey Kahne, who entered the Sharpie 500 on Saturday just 49 points out of 10th, managed to stay close to the drivers he's battling for the final spot in the Chase For The Nextel Cup throughout the race. "I knew where they were," Kahne said. "I knew exactly where they were. But there was nothing I could do about it." Kahne wound up 12th and sits 90 points behind Mark Martin for that final Chase spot. Only 138 points separate fourth from 11th. "We just didn't quite get it good enough to go to the top five," Kahne said. "That's probably my second-best finish ever here. It's not too bad for me anyways. "It's just a rough day when all the guys in front of you in points finish ahead of you in the race." Kahne has had good runs at both of the final two tracks - California and Richmond - prior to the Chase. He was fourth at California in February and he won at Richmond in May 2005. "There are so many good race teams right now and everybody is good," Kahne said. "We've just got to figure out how to be better than them. "We've got to finish in the top two or three in the next two races if we want to get in there if nobody else has a bad race."

Re: Kahne remains 11th in standings WVGrandma4Kasey: This message is for you..Please accept that I cannot abide by nor accept the German Dodge on the NASCAR track any more than I will be able to accept the Japanese Toyota next year. That being said; I am pulling so very hard for Kasey, for your sake, as not only do I really, really like the way the kid drives and his personality is great, but you (his most loyal and devoted fan) are so talented in your own right and have mastered and entertained me through this forum, that I could not help support you and the Kasey Kid to grasp the entrance to the top ten. It does occur to me, however, that if the France-jerk did not make manditory this stupid chase thing, that Kasey would have an equal and great opportunity to finish in grand style on his own. WVGrandma4Kasey...I will lay down my "JR" sword and pull for Kasey to get into the top ten....seems to me that JG should not be there anyhow...heard a rumor that they are going to change his nickname to the Phallic Kid...just a rumor! Love ya Grandma...please keep the visuals a-commin'

Re: Kahne remains 11th in standings Now, Grandma...in '97, both the Dodge and Petty were good 'ol USA stuff...fact is, Petty still is the epitome' of NASCAR racing...he just does not seem to slow down! Gotta love that guy...I saw him in Portland back in '96 when they still had a truck race (and a race track)...what a sportsman...he did not let any fans go away unhappy. Like Bob Hope, WVGrandma; Thanks for the memories...

Why does it matter who makes the car if the level of competition goes up? Toyota coming in next year simply means that Chevy, Ford, and Dodge need to get their acts together and improve their racing equipment. I'd imagine that there is more foreign content in the GM vehicles I have driven exclusively for the past 15 years than in a new Toyota just off the assembly line in Tennessee. Thanks for the laugh.

Re: Kahne remains 11th in standings Dear Mr. Wisconsin11fan: love your choice of driver...Denny is indeed a up and comer and has a ton of talent...but methinks you have no understanding of what makes your country a strong country...yes, a lot of the GM stuff is made outside of the US...and that is because the union workers have demanded outlandish wages making it necessary to go "outside" to get the job done with cheaper wages...however, the money is counted in Detroit and Lansing...in lieu of Tokyo and Bonn...(I've been to both locales...). It is doubtful that most citizens of the US born after 1970 would really realize that the foreign countries are indeed gleaning our "strength" by selling us the off-shore vehicles and other items, in the name of saying "we make it better and cheaper"...HA...you may indeed live long enough to wonder where the Heck you job went to...to the off shore countries... Some will laugh at us "old farts" doffing that we are not "with-it"...but, the intrusion of the foreign vehicles is a portent of our loss of a national integrity...let the Toyotas and Dodges in, and you will soon find that there is no national integrity to our lives, our races and to our ability to keep our jobs. Get ready to compete with the field workers...that will be the only jobs left in 20-30 years from now...we are NO LONGER an industrial nation and you have been brought up to think we are...the off-shore countries are moving in...try talking to a Hewlett Packard representive...she/he is from India...go support THAT!

Re: Kahne remains 11th in standings Sorry it was removed...it was a good and responsible response and one wothy of my respect...I think that your response was good and in keeping with the thinking of the current generation. Additionally, I think that we will get along very well...good background information...I just get concerned that we )the US) will be too conplacent in our acceptance of foreign products, thus allowing our significance to dwain...dwindle and evaporate...racing seems to be a symbol of that integrity...(hey boos, you should allow the response to get through...I really thoght it was germaine,,,)
