Martinsville Subway 500 - Once in a lifetime trip

I have recently found out that I may be transferred to Australia in the new year, and this has left me wanting to fulfull one of my life desires to see a NASCAR race.

I have always liked the short tracks, and obviously I can't make it to Bristol (tonight), but Martinsville is on the schedule in October.

I was looking at packages, and I saw you could get accomodations, travel to / from the track, the busch and cup races for $525 per person for a pair. However, the seats are in the Bill France Tower (rows 36 and above), and I have no idea if these are good seats.

I am wondering if people would advise the package deals, or just to try and do it myself. I definitely want the cup race, but the busch race is not a requirement. I want decent seats, but they do not have to be the best (although, those seats are probably already gone anyways).

Any help you guys could provide in making my decision to see my first race along with my wife, which may end up being our only chance for the foreseeable future, would be appreciated.

Re: Martinsville Subway 500 - Once in a lifetime trip

Hi Cray,

Welcome to GoTeamsGo. One note, we don't do links to non-news sites so here's the info you linked to about hotel & ticket location:
Quote:
Three (3) nights accommodations at Marriott Winston-Salem, NC
Reserved Bill France Tower NASCAR ticket (Rows 36 and above) for the Kroger 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race (Saturday, 10/21/06)
Reserved Bill France Tower NASCAR ticket (Rows 36 and above) for the Subway 500 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race (Sunday, 10/22/06)
Anybody ever done a package deal like this as opposed to just going to the Subway 500? or any NASCAR package deal for that matter?

Re: Martinsville Subway 500 - Once in a lifetime trip

Congratulations on your transfer. Australia is a great continent and you should enjoy it. I've been in Melbourne and Perth and liked it. It's a lot like the U.S. except they drive on the right side of the road and the toilets flush clockwise.

If you like stock car racing, be ready for a real treat. The Aussie's are nuts about racing and have lots of tracks around the country. They have V8 Supercar series, modified series, open wheeled series among others.

'Ave a good trip, mate.

It's not official yet (working out the details), but it looks like it will be a go. There are a lot of things I will be looking forward to, but I know if I don't see a race out here I will be disappointed, thus the desire to go now!
