2007 Nextel Cup Chase schedule

No, its not deja vu... the 2007 Chase for the Cup Nextel series schedule will be exactly the same as the current schedule, according to the Associated Press. Jenna Fryer, AP Auto Racing Writer, says "NASCAR chairman Brian France has promised slight adjustments to the championship format and did not rule out tweaking the locations of the final 10 races of the year. But when the schedule came out Thursday, it was unchanged."

"The 26th and final qualifying race will again be at Richmond International Raceway, and the Chase will begin Sept. 16 at New Hampshire International Speedway. Then it's on to Dover, Kansas, Talladega and a stop at Lowe's Motor Speedway in suburban Charlotte... From there the Cup series will go to Martinsville, Atlanta, Texas, Phoenix and then crown the champion at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Nov. 18."

What do you think? Bad idea for NASCAR to keep the same Chase races, eh?

Re: 2007 Nextel Cup Chase schedule

No, it's not a bad idea. The tracks have their schedules to make just like any other buisness. If they can keep the sane "dates" for their NASCAR races, then they can schedule other events around them. I know that at least at Infineon, there is NASCAR, Indycar, NHRA, and some sort of street racing thing that goes on there. It would not be feasable for NASCAR to , say, rotate which races are in the Chase. There would be numerous complaints from drivers who are used to having things a certain way. Besides, would you want to have the Daytona 500 as the last race of the season using its current qualifing format?

No, not a bad idea at all. back in the day, you'd have the exact same schedule for years and years before a change. Im getting tired of changing something every year.
