| Re: Kasey Kahne Drifting Bob, it is a stupid form of judged tire-frying. Started in Japan with the ricer crowd, but has filtered onto American soil. I can't believe Nascar guys are getting involved in this. Oh wait, yes I can since there is obviously $$$ involved. |

This just might be the venue that DW would do well at in his never ending quest to become a TV announcer !!! He and the "Hulk" would do just fine at this type of event. |

| Re: Kasey Kahne Drifting I thought the same things until I saw a drift event live... it is actually a VERY skilled deal... the guys are highly trained and it is a lot of fun... Yeah, it has filtered over to American soil because it is becoming more and more popular... they sell out events of 10,000 plus in just days in Southern California! This will definitely be a cool event... we'll see you all there! |

| Re: Kasey Kahne Drifting Kahne best NASCAR drifter in fundraiser SCENEDAILY - 06:29AM ET SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 2, 2006 - FONTANA, Calif. - Kasey Kahne was the top NASCAR competitor in the Mopar D1 All-Star Duel Thursday night at Irwindale Speedway in California. Seven Nextel Cup regulars and part-time Busch Series driver Chris Cook took on some top drifters in the showdown. Proceeds from the event benefited the Kasey Kahne Foundation. "We all got better every time we hit the track," Kahne said of the event. "I think Greg Biffle and Casey Mears probably had the most fun, at least they acted like they did. I had a blast. I think Bill Elliott did a good job and the crowd loved him." Jimmie Johnson, Scott Wimmer and Matt Kenseth also participated in the contest. Kenseth offered a somewhat less flowery view of the proceedings than Kahne did. Asked how drifting was, Kenseth didn't seem to be a big fan. Would he want to do it again? "Not really," he said. "It is kinda cool when you see the guys go around the track real fast. It's pretty neat to watch once or twice. After that, it's kind of the same. You don't pass each other. It's just totally different, like style points. It's like skateboarding. It's not like a competition to try to beat the next guy, it's competition to try to make it look cooler. Whatever. It was all right. ... It was kind of cool to watch for a few minutes." Kahne was asked to judge who was the best of the NASCAR contingent who participated in the event sponsored by ShiftIntoGear. "It was close," Kahne said Friday morning at California Speedway. "Robby Gordon was really good. Mears was good. I got better as time went on. I don't know who was best. I won out of the NASCAR guys, but people think it might have been fixed because it was my foundation. I don't think it was fixed. I think I might have won." ![]() |
