| Re: AMD at The Glen Race Discussion What is this? No discussion about Smoke and that guy that drives the #24 car has superiority on road courses out of all of the active drivers? How Smoke has some dominance at the Glen? Nothing about the so-called " Road Course Ringers" haven't done what they were hired for? C'mon, what's with everybody? Holding all comments until the Chase starts? This discussion thread usually has at least 30 replies by now. Can we kick it into gear?

As far as Stewart and Jeffie-Pooh and road courses, what can be said. In the current crop of Cup primadonas, only Robby Gordon can match them, IF he has equal equipment and team, on a regular basis. There certainly are some bright spots on the horizion but most are a light year or two from matching the three previously named drivers. IRT, the "ringers," with the exception of Dan Gurney and Mark Donahue most road race experts have not driven in cars capable of winning nor have they had high quality teams in their pits until recently. Even in high caliber equipment, the ringers are still at a big disadvantage because the majority of the time they're in cars weighting between 1600 pounds to 2200 pounds, a far cry from the weight of the Cup cars. Plus most don't run the tires the width of Cup racers. This can make a BIG difference in handling, stopping, etc. Take the above into consideration, I'm not too surprises that the ringers haven't performed as well as the media would have us believe they should.

| Re: AMD at The Glen Race Discussion Todays race was preety good. I am not normally crazy over the road course races but am hoping that tomorrows is just as good, if not better. I was rooting for Robby Gordon just to see him get a win, but honestly Busch deserved the win just as much...they both wanted it bad... ![]() And honarobale mention to MaaacMurray...what a confidence builder cause his season has surely sucked.... |
