The SonyHD500 race is at California Speedway in Fontana, California. If you are the first to score 1st & 2nd in order, you'll get a permanent upgrade to the member title of your choice. If there's no contest winner, the most impressive guess (provided it's close) gets a 1 month title upgrade.

Bonus style points awarded for the funniest/best reasons for your picks and for listing the best desired member title.

To get the permanent upgrade, your prediction must be in before qualifying begins. We'll take predictions after qualifying but the most you can win on that is a 1 month upgrade.

Here's my picks:
1. Kasey Kahne 2. Matt Kenseth

Kasey is gonna surprise the critics and leap into the chase with a win in Fontana. Kenseth won last year and has already locked up his place in the chase.

Both these guys have no reason to play it safe as opposed to the drivers who are assured a spot in the chase if they play it safe. Look for them to be some of the only drivers who are really battling this week.

How about my usual fare...Junior for 1st with Stewie right behine followed by WVGrandma4Kasey's KK.

3-forever...and we can all (at least most of us) can pull for an engine or transmission failure on the 24, or at least a non-life-threatening contact with the wall...I always look forward to a bank-shot play: 2 into 24 into 5 and into the pocket (garage) before any others are threatened by the Phallic Kid.

I predict Dale Junior will win the race. He is bringing the car from Michigan. He could have won there if his guys knew how to change a tire.

Jeff Gordon will finish second in a almost mistake free race. His only miscue will be spinning Kyle Busch into the wall when he forgets which Busch brother is his team mate. Busch will DNF and lose his spot in the Chase. The post race fight will be promoted by Vince McMahon. He will bill it as "The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies".
