Re: NEWBIE question

I'm not sure what you two are talking about. The driver receives points as to his finish, he could drive another car, but his points are his. The car owner gets points for how their car finished, another driver can drive that car , but it has the owners points. The owners points determine if the car is in the race or has to qualify. Pit crews have competition against each other for money. As for team points I have not heard of them. There are lots of thinks I don't know so if anyone else has please tell me. I sure hope I didn't confuse you more.

There is no team championship. Teams are basically multiple cars with one owner. There are a few cars that are not part of a multiple car team, so they wouldn't be eligable for a "team" championship.

If you think of each car as a "team", understanding the "Chase" might be a little easier.

The team: the pit crew, crew chief, owner, driver, ect, who ever it takes to win. The glory goes to the driver and they want to share it with their crew. They are the winning crew or team. Without the crew the driver can't win. Good crew's are worth good money. And Championships.

Ok candle you just confused me. I never thought of a team as a muti-car team. I only understand the team concept as the one who work with one car, so a one car team could win a championship. ?

That's the way I tried to explain it to Marvin. You know how there are multiple drivers that are driving for one owner? I think that's the concept that Marvin was thinking of. He probably heard of JJ, JG, Ky.B, and others being teammates. At least, that's what I believe he was talking about.

Mervin, I will tell you what I tell others that are new to NASCAR, go ahead and watch the rest of the season, be interested in the Chase, get a feel for the sport and what it entails. Then pick a driver that you have a sort of "connection" with. There are a total of 48-50 drivers trying to qualify for 43 spots on the track. If you can, watch the SPEED channel from Fri-Sun. There you can get some info on some of the drivers. Maybe log onto NASCAR.com and do some research. I was watching NASCAR a long time ago when some of the people in the booth were racing. I think if you can get into the sport just like you are into the Yankees, you will have a good time.

Also, don't be afraid to log on and ask questions. All the fans on here will be more than happy to explain things the best that they can. We are a small "community", but we are growing. With a bunch of people that have at least some knowledge of the sport, your questions should be answered. You can even PM me if you want.

I know sometimes I just put a bunch of icons, but you can't go more than 4 of them either.
